Alpenspektakel Biografi 1973 - 2020 - (48 Jahre) 2017 45 Jahr Jubiläum

Auner Hof 1957Peter Aschaber Senior

Salvenschmied Buam 1973
In 1973 during a works party at an ironsmiths, Peter Aschaber, an apprentice, and his colleague, Hans Bachler, unpacked their musical instruments - not knowing that this was to be the very beginning of a highly successful group. For the time being, they just 'jammed' amongst themselves. However, the lure of public performance grew ever stronger and so the two of them decided to form a group (Salvenschmied Buam).

They were not particularly happy with the first few performances - they needed a bass player. Peter's brother was just learning a brass instrument at the time and so they had to raid the piggy bank to buy a baritone horn for the young schoolboy, Engelbert Aschaber, then 13 years old. The three young boys had no wish to be famous - music was just their hobby. Even when the posters advertised the „Salvenschmied Buam”, the locals all called them the „Auner”. The name „AUNER” comes from the hamlet of Au in Westendorf / Tyrol where they lived at the time.

The first cassette was recorded under the new name the „AUNER BUAM”. Henceforth, the three made a good name for themselves. They made a new recording virtually every year, made appearances all over Europe and invested a lot of time and money into their music.

The first sketches were to be seen in the show and they started to look for a fourth man. The right man, Sepp Eberl, was found shortly afterwards.
For the first time, they tried something very different - a show night with solos and sketches. A fitting name was found as these performances became more and more successful - the „Alpenspektakel®” had been born!

With constant pressure to provide something new all the time, the boys made their first video, which proved to be a great success.
From now on, the Auner organised and managed most of their own performances. In the 2 ½ hour-long show most of the music on some 32 different instruments is self-composed.
Opening of their own 32 track digital recording, video and graphic studio with their own label (Auni Records & MediaCom).

The fifth musician and part-time joker, Franz Eberl, joined the group. In the meantime, the „Alpenspektakel®” had become a huge hit welcoming international audiences. Virtually all of the music is written by themselves, as are the gags, sketches and jokes.
Hubert Weidinger, a well-known hunting artist painted a huge stage screen for the show (14m²).

Franz became ill in August. After successful treatment he now works in the Auner film studio. Fanclubs start in Holland, Denmark …
Hans Bachler said his goodbyes to the group after 29 years on the stage. An excellent replacement who fits well into the team has now taken over. The Auner organise huge events in Austria and abroad.

The Auner took on a singer for three years to bring a little diversity into the show. There are very few groups in Austria who can pull off so many events with such tremendous aplomb. 35 CDs, 12 films, 2 CD ROMs, several awards and fan clubs in Holland, Denmark and Germany prove their popularity! They are the first group to use a video unit, not only to project the show onto a huge screen, but also to play appropriate live scenes to fit the music.
Guest appearances in Denmark, Las Vegas USA, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria. Own TV show….

The Auner Alpenspektakel make their first long tour to Denmark. Over 150 performances throughout Europe.

The Auner celebrate 35 years and to commemorate, they plan 2 new films and 3 CDS. Extensive jubilee tour and further events, several TV and radio programmes are also in the pipeline. On the technical front: stage management is now bang up to date with a top quality beamer. They have invested in TV and recording studios, now they can produce in „High Definiton“. A busy year – 16 TV shows made by Peter and his team plus some 130 performances. The new CD „De største Tyrolerhits“ sends the Alpenspektakel into the high ranks of the charts in Denmark. After nearly four months on tour, the boys are looking forward to seeing the mountains again. Not all members of the group want to be away from home so much and some of the tours now include different musicians.

2 new CDs and films for the Scandinavian countries are made in the largest studios in DK. These are launched with a great amount of publicity. Own TV programme on TV2 and large spreads in the broadsheets in Denmark.
